The return of optimism.
It has been wonderful to watch the hope and sparkle return to this older boy's eyes.
At the time of rescue Rusty had just survived some sort of trauma and his spirit was muted in despair.
Rusty is a sweet senior, good with dogs, and reportedly housetrained.
He needs an adult-only home because he can reportedly get moody and become intolerant of strangers.
These fantastic portraits of Rusty are courtesy of Pet'ographique.

Firetruck
We are so proud of the recovery this sweetheart has made since his rescue.
Firetruck had been in an abandoned house that caught fire. Neighbors, who did not know he was inside, saw him escape.
Fortunately, he had no major burns. But besides being covered in soot and smelling of smoke, he was very traumatized and it took him a couple of days to calm down and accept our petting and care.
Though still shy, Firetruck is now trusting us and enjoying human touch and being spoken to.
Please ask for Firetruck by name when you visit.

Snoopy, a 4-pound puppy who survived being struck by a car.
Triumphant little Snoopy, a baby boy, is ready to share his unconditional love and entertaining personality with someone very special.
Thanks to extensive medical care and therapy, very generously paid for by a Nevada SPCA supporter, he has recovered from being struck by a car, which resulted in both legs on his left side being "de-gloved" (stripped of skin).
Snoopy's therapy at an advanced care veterinary hospital included weeks of hospitalization for daily re-wraps of his bandages and water therapy to help wash away dead skin cells.
Snoopy is a Chihuahua puppy, now 3 months of age and neutered, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is wiggly and energetic, and sports the confidence of a lion.
Please ask for Snoopy by name.
Can I join your loving family?
Felipe is a handsome kitten with a gentle spirit and he craves attention.
Rescued from a hoarder, we believe another cat scratched his right eye. The scarring is slowly reducing and he still has most vision in the eye. A veterinarian who examined him believes the scarring may continue to diminish in size.
Felipe is a brown tabby, now 6 months of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
Please kitten-proof your home for his safety and protection, and keep him always indoors as a valued and cherished member of the family.
Peanut Butter
Peanut Butter has been awaiting this special day for months -- her debut for adoption! -- while healing from severe wounds on her back and side from dog attacks.
The veterinarian who confiscated her from an abysmal situation said that there were numerous other dogs in the home who had repeatedly attacked her.
Peanut Butter is a lovely, friendly little lady, a Beagle, spayed, 6 years of age.
Please come meet and adopt her at Nevada SPCA.

What does really being loved feel like?
Bart is now glowing and shining, so full of optimism that he will finally get to know what a loving home feels like.
He is a Bichon Frise & Poodle mix, neutered boy, 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
Bart was a filthy, matted mess at the time of rescue, but that neglectful past was shaved away when we had him cleaned and groomed.
Bart enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming.
An adult-only home is strongly preferred. He is very anxious about being picked up and still recovering emotionally from years of severe neglect.
Peep, a divine puppy who made an inspirational recovery.
Peep is an entertaining, divine baby girl who loves to stare into your eyes.
She is a playful Shih-Tzu & Yorkshire Terrier mix puppy, 5 months of age, spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
At the time of rescue Peep had severe and painful facial lesions from "puppy strangles" (juvenile cellulitis).
Following 6 weeks of treatment, she made a full recovery! We celebrated her triumph with this gorgeous portrait, courtesy of Pet'ographique.
Peep is now ready to share her unconditional love and devotion with you for the rest of her life.

Chief needs a hero.
Chief has a gentle, unassuming presence that is especially endearing.
We are proud of the progress this boy has made with trusting us and building his confidence. This progress needs to continue in a new loving home.
Chief is a handsome Chihuahua, neutered boy, 8 years of age, very good with other dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.
Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this remarkable portrait to help Chief find someone special to love him dearly.
3 Border Collie mix puppies who need a hero.
Bell
Biv
Devoe
The brothers are very attractive Border Collie mixes, now 6 months of age, and neutered, and finally ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. But they need a hero (or heroes) because they were not socialized and all new people and places absolutely terrify them. They are responding to our staff and volunteers, but progress so far is slow.
We named them Bell, Biv, and Devoe.
We believe they will adjust best with another dog in the home, ideally a mature dog with a calming, maternal or paternal nature.

Dr. Jamie, a cream tabby kitten now ready for adoption.
Dr. Jamie is lovingly named after the veterinarian who saved her life.
At the time of rescue, this little angel had severe leg fractures (to her hind right leg) and she was very ill. The fractures were consistent with her falling a very long drop, such as from a roof or tree.
Dr. Jamie's leg could not be saved, and it had to be amputated. But she made a full recovery from the illness, and with loving care she is making an admirable adjustment to life on three legs.
She is a cream tabby kitten, now 4-5 months of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
Dr. Jamie loves gentle petting and holding, and purrs loudly in your arms.
Please ask for her by name when you visit Nevada SPCA.

Jonelle would like to bless you with her sweet spirit.
If you prefer a calm and gentle older dog, will you please give consideration to Jonelle?
Jonelle is a very sweet spirit, humble, and full of unconditional devotion she is very ready to share with you.
Jonelle is a Boxer mix, medium size, spayed, about 8 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
We rescued Jonelle from another shelter. She had a small eye growth at the time of rescue, which we had removed, and she has healed well.
Joan's triumphant survival and recovery!
We celebrated Joan's triumphant survival and full recovery with this beautiful portrait, courtesy of Pet'ographique.
Joan is a wiggly, enthusiastic Shih-Tzu, spayed girl, 2 years young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
At the time of rescue Joan had severe head wounds above her eyes, which her veterinarian believed were caused by a coyote or dog attack. We thought she had lost both eyes because of the way her torn skin appeared at the time.
An exceptionally generous donor heroically paid for Joan's advanced medical care at a veterinary specialty clinic. Joan has full function in both eyes and the permanent scarring looks like distinguished eyebrows.
Joan is a treasure and now she is ready to bless someone special with her unconditional love.
What does being loved feel like?
Guy is very timid and sensitive. He shows signs of never being loved, as he has no self-esteem and worries that every new person he meets will start screaming at him.
His previous owner said the reason he surrendered him was: "Can't stand him". Guy was made to live outdoors, apparently without toys.
But this handsome young Chocolate Labrador Retriever is about to have a grand awakening! Gentle care and patience will help him reach his full loving potential.
Guy is 18 months young, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Shadow should have been named Sunshine!
Fun-loving and jubilant, Shadow glows with kindness and good cheer.
He is a sunny blend of Golden Retriever & Yellow Labrador Retriever, just one year of age, neutered, full of love for people and dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
We rescued Shadow from another shelter. He was surrendered there with a severe eye infection and entropia. We treated his eye and had his entropia repaired at a veterinary clinic, and he has made a beautiful recovery.

Rocky, an affectionate Siamese cat who needs a hero.
Please help us find a hero for Rocky. He is a cuddly, chatty, engaging youngster who will fill your heart and home with unconditional love and devotion.
Rocky is a handsome Siamese, neutered, 2 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
At the time of rescue Rocky was very ill and suffering from severe eye infections. His veterinarian was able to save his life, but despite all best efforts, his eyes could not be saved.
Rocky is adjusting beautifully and delights in life's most important pleasures -- getting & receiving affection, feeling safe and loved, and being comfortable.
Please be sure to ask for Rocky by name when you visit.

Chris is blessed with irresistible charm.
It only takes one look at Chris to see that he is full of character!
A gentle giant, he rolls over for belly rubs and leans his head up into your hand for petting.
Chris is an orange & white shorthair, 2 years young, now neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
At the time of rescue he was covered in tar on his face, back, feet, and tail, and had gotten sick trying to lick it off.
Chris made a full recovery and he is now ready to join a loving, forever home where he will live always safely indoors.
Lady MacBeth's triumphant survival and recovery.
Lady MacBeth relishes being pampered and reassured.
Loving attention now for her is in stark contrast to what she has endured. At the time of rescue her right eye was terribly maimed, her left ear had collapsed, many of her teeth were missing, and she had been declawed.
Lady MacBeth though is a survivor, and she is recovering well. Her right eye could not be saved and her left ear will not return to normal shape. But her spirits are brightening and we want her to have a lifetime of great love and comfort.
Lady MacBeth is a Himalayan cat, about 9 years of age, spayed, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Jazzy's dark days are over and he is ready for a loving, bright future.
Jazzy sparkles with joy and dazzles us with his amazing smile. We love his sunny personality.
He is a Yellow Labrador Retriever mix, about 7 years of age, neutered, great with dogs and people, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
He is recovering beautifully from a horrific past. He was one of the two dogs living in deplorable conditions at an abandoned home who had been the victim of tazering, as featured on 8 News Now TV on January 12th. He was transferred to us from another shelter to address his medical needs (and the other dog was also transferred to a reputable rescue group).
Jazzy is ready to experience what a loving home feels like!
Noel's Christmas Miracle.
Noel needed a Christmas miracle.
It was just a handful of days before Christmas and she was very sick with the deadly parvo virus. Her previous owner could not afford any medical care for her and surrendered her to us so we could try to save her life.
We rushed Noel into a veterinary hospital, and after extensive treatment, she triumphantly made a full recovery.
Today is the day this baby angel has been waiting for -- her debut for adoption at Nevada SPCA.
Noel is a Chihuahua puppy, now 9 months of age, spayed, and blessed with a gentle and loving spirit.
Leo's beautiful emotional recovery!
Leo's more light-hearted nature is celebrated in this brand new portrait from Pet'ographique.
We are so proud of this little guy for trusting us and becoming more affectionate, despite a past full of cruelty and neglect. Volunteers and staff have been helping him recover emotionally for months, and now he is triumphantly ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.
Leo is a handsome Chihuahua, neutered boy, about 5 years of age, and he gets along beautifully with other dogs.
