Quinlan, a Chinchilla for adoption.

Super cute Quinlan is a shy, gorgeous Chinchilla debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA in the Lovebugs Room.

Quinlan became homeless when his previous owners divorced.

He is about 5 years of age, gentle, and favors an occasional raisin for a special treat.

Because he is so timid, an experienced and knowledgeable home about Chinchillas is strongly preferred.

Dymin, a petite and young Maltese who wants to be the center of your world.

Dymin needed us when one of her owners passed away and the other became too ill to care for her any further.

Dymin is a gorgeous Maltese, very affectionate and loving (with adults), spayed, housetrained, about 3 years of age.

Her previous owner admitted to spoiling her on an extreme level, perhaps causing some eccentricities and behavior issues.  For example, Dymin won't eat her kibble unless you mix in warm water to soften it up.  (She has a special diet for food allergies.)  Also, she won't tolerate kids or large dogs.  Apparently, she was previously attacked by a large dog, so if she sees a large dog she tries for a preemptive attack first.

Dymin loves to be in your lap and she is used to nearly constant attention.  We believe she will do best in a home where her guardian(s) are home most of the time, and willing and able to devote lots of adoration to her.  Please also plan and budget for regular professional grooming care.

Expect no dull moments with Samurai Jack!

Samurai Jack is full of character!  He's tiny, but strong-willed.

Samurai Jack is a Longhair Chihuahua, housetrained, crate-trained, great with dogs, neutered, about 7 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

His previous owner said he likes to sing along to opera and never say the word "McDonalds" in front of him unless a drive-thru is nearby or you are likely to face a temper tantrum.

Samurai Jack needs an adult-home where his eccentricities will be tolerated and cherished.

He needed us when his previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure.

Einstein is a brilliant boy ready for a loving, forever home.

Einstein's brilliant smile and affability have been perfectly captured by Pet'ographique in this portrait to help him find a loving, forever home.

Einstein is a Lhasa Apso mix, neutered boy, 2 years young, housetrained, and good with other dogs.  Children make him nervous, so an adult-only home is needed.

Please come meet and adopt Einstein today at Nevada SPCA.

I am a sunny Beagle with a puppy-like temperament.

Autumn is a sunny, cheery girl with a ready smile.

She is a beautiful tri-color Beagle, spayed, 4 years of age.

Though mostly puppy-like in temperament, Autumn is serious about food. Perhaps due to previous starvation, she has food aggression from fear of going hungry. This behavior can diminish with time and patience in an experienced, adult-only home.

Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these amazing portraits to help get Autumn adopted into a loving, forever home.

Don't tell anyone, but there is a heart of gold under my gruff exterior.

Like Archie Bunker, little Kobe is an adorable grouch.

He is all love once he knows and trusts you.  But especially with strangers, he is wary and moody.

Kobe is a tiny, rustic older Chihuahua with mousy good looks.  He is neutered and about 9 years of age.

He needed us when his previous owners moved out of state without him.

Kobe gets along well with other dogs.  He may be housetrained too, though he is used to living day and night in just one room of the house.

Please ask for this grumpy little cutie by name when you visit.  He will do best in a calm, stable, adult-only home.

I need a hero.

Shaq is a warm, noble older boy with a heart of gold.

But he began getting temperamental as he was losing his sight and hearing, making him a bit unpredictable for a time.

His adjustments are doing better now and he is less afraid of the changes happening to him.  He is mostly blind and deaf, but responds well to touch.  Staff, volunteers, volunteer trainers and veterinarians have all helped, and we feel he is now ready for adoption, provided that his progress can continue in his new home.

Shaq is a small, handsome Chow Chow, neutered, about 10 years of age.

He is compatible with most dogs and he is reportedly housetrained and fine with cats too.  Please plan on regular brushing and grooming.  An adult-only home is needed for him for the reasons stated above.

Please ask for Shaq by name when you visit.

I live in the vertical world.

Gravity seems to be only a minor obstacle for this gorgeous lady who prides herself on finding the highest points in the room for perching and catnaps.

She also loves when we vigorously bounce tennis balls that she can leap on and catch.

Rhubarb is a chocolate-point Siamese, spayed, about 6 years of age, available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

We rescued her from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space.

Rhubarb needs a very patient, tolerant owner.  She can get fussy and temperamental, particularly if you touch her when (or where) she does not want to be petted.  Adult-only home please.

Despite her feisty personality though, she can be a marvelous companion who spends time with you quietly in the same room, full of love and respect.

I trusted and loved them, but they threw me away.

Cars on a busy street where whizzing by an abandoned crate.  Most probably did not know that an innocent little life, terrified and in fear of being crushed, was literally locked inside.

Someone finally stopped and brought the crate to us, we pried the lock and brought him into the safety of Nevada SPCA.

Chachito is understandably wary of people, temperamental as some dogs become when people have failed them and the dogs decide they will no longer tolerate any further abuse.

But he has loving potential, and in an experienced, adult-only home, we believe he will bloom again.

Chachito is a good-looking fellow, chocolate tri-color Chihuahua, neutered about 4 years of age, compatible with other dogs.  He aches for kindness and stability and he will do best in a gentle home environment.

Will I ever get to feel that I am loved?

With the extreme weather patterns of a desert climate, we think it is unconscionable that this little angel had been banished to living solely outdoors, isolated from her previous family for all but just a few minutes per day at best.

Lara is understandably wary of new people, protecting herself from getting hopeful.  But she is gentle and warm with those she trusts.

Lara is a pretty, chocolate Chihuahua, spayed girl, about 4 years of age, compatible with other sweet dogs.  She debuts for adoption today.

Because of her timidity, we believe she will do best in an experienced, quiet home with adults only (or any children in the home being older and very mature).

Please adopt Lara and introduce her to the wonders of a loving home environment.

Perhaps I am a diva in the making.

Update: Emme was adopted on January 29th!

Emme is simply irresistible!

She is a baby girl, cuter than a Teddy Bear, debuting for adoption today.

But she is as strong-willed as she is adorable, so an experienced home is required for her adoption.  Her foster mom has been working with her on food aggression and being temperamental, and this progress will need to continue in her new, adult-only home.

Emme is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, spayed, about 4 months of age, and good with some dogs (except around food and treats when extra caution is in order).  She will need your patience and good guidance to complete housetraining.

Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection.

Emme needed us when her previous owner abandoned her.

I believe I have been misunderstood.

Staff and volunteers at Nevada SPCA rave about this vivacious, intelligent, good-looking boy.

George is a slender Border Collie, neutered, about 8 years of age, ready for adoption today.

We are in a bit of a quandary with relaying background information.  We have conflicting information, and since some of it came from what seemed like a mean-spirited source, we have to discount anything we do not know first-hand, so questions of housetraining and compatibility with other animals is unknown.

But George is eager to please and fun-loving.  He sometimes play-bites, a behavior that must be corrected in an experienced home, perhaps with the assistance of a trainer, and he needs an adult-only home to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention.

Border Collie knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred.

I am beautifully emerging from my shell.

What a difference a few weeks of loving care has made for Fendi.

This lovely young girl had not been socialized properly, with people or other animals, and she wanted nothing to do with any of us initially.  In fact, she tried snapping at us when her previous owner handed her off.

Now, trust is building, along with her self-esteem, and we believe she is seeing the world in a more colorful, kind way.

Fendi is a Shiba Inu mix, spayed girl, about one year of age, triumphantly debuting for adoption today.  Her progress with trust will need to continue in her new home.

She needed us because her previous owner said she had "no room" for her.

Fendi is reportedly housetrained and enjoys watching TV on a blanket with you in the evenings.
