Halloween 2010 Day 1

Some places in our area celebrated Halloween yesterday. So, off we went to my Mom Lori and Dan's place as it is a yearly tradition to celebrate Halloween with them. This is Andrea's 3rd Halloween and she seems excited. She even took a nap because I told her that we will go trick or treat late in the afternoon.

So, off we go to trick and treat. Andrea is still excited about it...

The trick or treat thing didn't go very well. She got so shy and wouldn't even say trick or treat. She was happy to get her candies though!

We have decided not to continue trick or treating, instead we went to the newly open mall near our place. Andrea had a blast and it made her halloween very special.

Mommy Moments: Before and After

Sometimes I wonder where did the days and months went... I can't seem to fathom how big my daughter has become. It was as if yesterday that she was just so little who relies on me on everything. Now, she is a big girl with a mind of his own and seems to think that she can do things without my help anymore....

When we want something we ought to compare things. I do that most of the time. I always weigh down the pros and cons before deciding on buying things or even on doing things. Any Baseball Game, Any Time

I am a huge fan of Major League Baseball, so much so that I don't have a rooting interest in any team. Really, I do not understand why anyone would root for a particular piece of laundry, and it makes more sense to me to love the game and the players and the compelling stories that make the sport the exciting drama that it is. After all, the fact that one team should be rooted for unequivocally like a blind fool really speaks of a kind of sports slavery that should not be dignified by a true and sensible person. If a team fails to perform, why should I support it blindly? It makes no sense, like paying for a pizza that tastes awful simply because it is made in your hometown.

This loyalty is foolish and I choose to follow the baseball team that does its best to entertain me. It makes more sense to not be bored, and this is why I watch the New York Yankees, because they are a team that knows drama. They always make things interesting and always compete to the bitter or sweet end. The New York Yankees are the greatest team in the history of sports. I watch them every night on satellite TV from directstartv.com because there is really no other place to watch every game in high definition.

So...here we go!

1. While the cat's away (we don't have cat so I don't know).

2. Hubby always makes me feel fabuloso!

3. Children are gift from God.

4. My legs are always sore when I get home from work or shopping or what have you.

5. This may seem odd, but I use to drink coffee before going to bed.

6. Vacation to Philippines with a Singapore side trip, and that seems like a fine idea to me!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a late shopping for Halloween, tomorrow my plans include going trick or treat and Sunday, I want to enjoy the weekend and relax!

Nostalgia #24: Tatay

I am a tatay's girl! Wrong... I know that I am the family's little girl despite the fact that I am no longer little (actually more of a jumbo now lol).

Being the youngest girl in the family has its perks! I am the family's favorite and I am not ashamed to admit that. On top of that, I am spoiled! Though I am spoiled, I am not a brat. I worked and worked and made everyone in the family a priority. I always made sure that they get what they need even if it means forgetting my own needs.

Anyhow, Tatay will be celebrating his birthday on the 3rd of November. It make me wish that I was there to celebrate it with him. I am feeling nostalgic because we usually come home to our hometown during Nov 1 and Nov 2 for "kalag-kalag" then on the 3rd we all celebrate tatay's birthday. Oh... how I miss those times when we are all together at home enjoying everyone's company while eating "biko and suman".

I am a Butterfly!

Andrea has decided that she is a butterfly and she can fly. I thought that it was just a "one day affair".... I was wrong!

Here's the story. When we went shopping for Andrea's Halloween outfit, she saw the butterfly wings and she got so fascinated with it so we bought her one. When we got home, she wanted to be a butterfly so I put the wings on. When she had her wings, she wants to get out of our place because she wants to fly outside. Off we go outside and ran around. I admit, Stephen King is really good! He has a way of making his movies really awesome. I really don't watch a lot of horror movies as it is not my favorite. Anyhow, I have seen a few of his horror movies and it is really good.

One that I particularly like is the 1408. It is about the cynical and skeptical writer Mike Enslin writes books evaluating supernatural phenomena in hotels, graveyards and other haunted places, usually debunking the mystery. While writing his last book, he travels from Los Angeles to New York to spend one night in the evil room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel, which is permanently unavailable for guests. The reluctant manager Mr. Gerald Olin objects to his request and offers an upgrade, expensive booze and finally the reports relating the death of more than fifty guests along decades in the cursed room. However, Mike threatens Mr. Oiln, promising to sue the hotel, and finally checks in the room. Along the night, he finds that guests of room 1408 can check out when they like, but they can never leave the room alive.

The Convenience of a DVR

My favorite TV show comes on directv in brownsboro alabama every night at 5 p.m. and I would have to miss it if it were not for my DVR. At this time of night, I am trying to get dinner on the table, help my kids with their homework and clean up from the after school rush. My DVR allows me to record this show so I can watch it in peace after my house has settled down for the night. I don't miss out on any of the topics and it gives me a way to relax before I go to bed for the evening.

My husband also enjoys this as he can now record his favorite shows and watch them in the morning before he goes to work. He gets up very early and has the time to enjoy shows that our children are not allowed to watch. If we didn't have the DVR, he would often have to miss out on these shows. The topics are just too mature for the kids and we don't want them exposed to the issues covered. Before we had the DVR, he often had to hear about these shows from co-workers the next day. Now he can enjoy them on the night they are first shown.

Carved Pumpkins

After I made my first carved pumpkin, I got hook with it. I enjoyed the activity so much that I carved some more.

As you all know my first was a cat. I decided to make a more challenging design. I made a dragon for my second carved pumpkin and I made a bat and a moon as my third.

I had such a great time and I enjoy looking at them when it was lighted.

To my disappointment, my carved pumpkins didn't last! It wilted and the designs are no longer pretty. Oh, I feel sad but that's how it is! I will carved a new one on Friday so that it will be in time for Halloween!

1. One of my strongest beliefs is prayers does wonders.

2. The strawberries are huge! (That's what my daughter is eating right now)

6. I remember how much Andrea likes the moon and then I/we went outside to look at the full moon.

Nostalgia #23: Little Brothers

Oh, these are my two little brothers. This photo was taken during my grandmother's funeral year 1994. This was our house before and can you see the curtain? Holy guacamole! lol

This was the time when both my brother Jerome and Jojo are likes cats and dogs. They were at the age where everything is a reason to fight and punch each other. I was the peacemaker at all times. I was always the one that screams... run to the other one and hold the other one. Those were the days....

Now Jerome is already married (we went home to attend his wedding last 2009) and he is now a teacher in our local high school. Jojo is now an Electrical engineer and working as a seaman. He is planning to get married this June 2011 and we are planning to go home too!

Pumpkin Carving

I have never carved a pumpkin in my whole life. Finally we decided to do it. I was surprise how much I enjoy making my first carved pumpkin.

We wanted to do it as a family but Andrea decided that it is too much work for her. I ended up doing most of it because I really wanted to. Dave helped me do it. He helped me scrape the insides of the pumpkin. I did most of the carving and I am proud of the result.

Andrea enjoyed looking at the cat pumpkin. She just get involved after we were done with the pumpkin carving which was really good as to avoid more mess. I hope that next year she will be more interested with us doing pumpkin carving.

Ready for the Challenge

My sister has finally received her license. She passed the nursing board more than a month ago and it was only yesterday that she got her licensed. She is now ready to take the next level and that is to find a job on her chosen field. She already applied for a medical job position in the hospital where her friend work as a nurse too. I hope she can find a job very soon.

Speaking of working in the medical field, my sister is looking for a cheap hospital scrubs that she can buy. Word Games

I have always loved playing word games. I started playing scrabble during my elementary years. Playing scrabble is a family bonding for us. I remember forcing my mom to play with me when I don't have opponent whenever I want to play scrabble. I even tried playing alone. Then I learned to play boggle, upwords and a lot more word games.

Not being too conceited, I got good at playing these games. When the whole family plays, I am usually the one that kept the score as I can do it swiftly without messing my turn. When I was in college I often play boggle with my professors and most often than not, I win.

My TCP entry for this week is My Name is Khan. I am not so sure if it qualifies for Living the American Dream but somehow, I chose this because this is a story about a man from India who now lives in America and tries to build a family despite his condition.

Going Fishing in the Fall

One of my all time favorite hobbies is to go fishing. I have loved fishing for as long as I can remember. I was probably a year old when my dad put my first fishing pole in my hand. There is nothing better than sitting out on a nice cool fall day hoping to reel in that trophy fish with your dad. It's a good time to catch up on everything that is going on with each other as well and just sitting there together to relax on a beautiful day. Growing up, my dad would take me to all sorts of places to fish. We had a pond down the road that we would frequent if we didn't have much time to go anywhere else. It wasn't a prime fishing location, but we were fishing all the same. When we had time to spare, we loved going to the beach to fish. There is nothing like fishing off the pier, especially on a nice fall day. Because I am all grown up now and have my own life, my dad and I don't get to go fishing together much anymore. I don't particularly like to fish alone, so while I am waiting for my dad to visit I occupy my time with my favorite shows. I like to watch satellite tv that I got from DirectStarTV.com during my free time.

Andrea loves blowing bubbles. She loves to chase and pop them too. I know I have a lot of pictures of her with bubbles but I like these ones because it is a great bonding picture with her dad.

She is still very young here... now she knows how to do it by herself....

Friday Fill - In (10/15/10)

So...here we go!

1. Wow, it's getting cooler... yeah!.

2. Fall is beautiful.

3. My favorite way to start a day is drink coffee with cream.

4. I asked hubby to buy some halloween stuff and he walked in the door holding a pumpkin.

5. I look out my window and see kids playing outside

6. Halloween costume is what I've been thinking about lately.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to eating some Filipino food, tomorrow my plans include sleeping in and Sunday, I want to have a relaxing day!

This is at Killen Alabama at my Dad Bill's porch. We seldom visit them and I wish we will visit them soon. I would really like for them to spend some time and build a relationship with Andrea afterall they are Andrea's grandparents too.
