I have happy feet.

Update: Carter was adopted on February 2nd!

We think of little Carter as a lyrical boy who is not shy about vocalizing with you when he is hungry or wanting a hug.

Carter is still a kitten at about 9-10 months of age, a handsome grey shorthair with golden eyes, neutered, and available for adoption in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

He needed us when he was abandoned outdoors by his previous owner.

Carter wants to be able to look up into your eyes and have your full attention.  Please only consider him if you can make plenty of time daily to shower him with affection and adoration.  He delights in "making biscuits" with his paws -- rhythmically pressing on you while he purrs.

Please also be sure to carefully kitten-proof your home for his safety.

Cricket

A couple of years back I met a friend online. He was from South Africa and I was really excited to learn about the differences in our culture. Aside from our culture, I also got interested to know more about the sport he called Cricket. It seemed to be such a popular sport that when I mentioned it to my friend who was from Australia, she also had lots of things to say about it.

I'm familiar with baseball, and I thought Cricket was not much different. When my friends were giving me the run-through of how the sport was played, it was interesting to learn about their differences. Yes, with baseball and cricket, it's about batting, running, and inning/s. But with Cricket, there are stumps and wickets too. Also, based on my understanding, there are stricter rules to follow even for simple actions such as foot placements.

Because of these restrictions, I suppose players need specialized equipments, accessories and gears to play this game. Cricket footwear may be as important as the Cricket bats or protective clothings (pads, helmet, box). I was so curious to know more about these things that I found a great online Cricket store based in the USA. Here I saw what my friends were talking about. Glad to know that great stores such as the one I saw service other countries too like Australia and Canada.

I still have lots to learn about Cricket, and maybe one day I can watch the game played live.

I would be a terrific sister.

Such a gentle soul, Star is very endearing and a tender cuddler.

She is a lovely Lop & American mix bunny, spayed, one year of age, with a sleek black coat and warm eyes.

Star needed us when she was abandoned by her previous owner, apparently regarded as another "Easter bunny" rather than as a loving, social animal and family member.

She relishes her daily salad greens and especially her shredded wheat snacks.

We believe Star will bond well with another rabbit in need of a brother or sister.  Please bring your bunny to meet her in our Lovebug Room for a 'bunny date'.  (Note: Your rabbit will need to already be spayed or neutered too.)

Monday Movie Meme: Bad Accent

Let's talk about bad accent. The first thing that came to my mind is Brad Pitt playing Inglorious Basterds. His accent was horrible yet funny in a way.

Who can ever forget Kevin Costner with his role in Robinhood: Prince of the Thieves? Isn't that the worst accent?

Anyway, if you have something to share about this please join us for Monday Movie Meme.

I am very loving and I do remarkably well in small spaces.

At the time of rescue L'Oreal was pregnant and out on the streets, in a hopeless situation made worse with her lack of sight.

But thanks to loving foster care, she had her babies indoors, safely and in comfort.

Now it is L'Oreal's turn to be adopted.  She is a mellow, beautiful smoke tabby, medium-hair, spayed, and about 3 years of age.

Despite being mostly blind, she has never had a problem finding her food or litter box.  She does extremely well in quiet, small spaces and enjoys cuddling in your lap, so perhaps she can live primarily in a designated guest room or cozy part of your home.

Please ask for L'Oreal by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.  She is one of 200 rescued, spayed/neutered cats there awaiting loving, forever homes.

Snacking on melon is my favorite treat.

Update: Buddha was adopted on February 1st!

Buddha is a peaceful, serene young adult sugar glider with enormous charm available for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please ask for him by name in the Lovebug Room.

This precious boy needed us because his previous owner said he did not have the knowledge or time to care for him properly.

A marsupial, Buddha loves his comfy pouch.  Sugar gliders are nocturnal, they play at night and sleep during the day, so his pouch hung high in his vertical cage feels safe and keeps him out of sunlight.  (His nesting box and being able to climb is critically important, so an aquarium-type habitat is not acceptable.)

We need an experienced owner for Buddha, someone knowledgeable about and/or experienced with this species.  A fresh fruit diet is essential for his health and there are specific woods it is acceptable for him to chew on.  Sugar gliders in captivity reportedly can live 10-15 years.

Like all rescued animals, we are seeking a loving, forever home for Buddha where he will be treated like a member of the family.

Credit Card Management

Credit cards are part of almost everyone's daily living. It is actually a must-have here in the USA. Credit cards can make or break your credit rating. I've heard a lot of good and bad stories about using them, which makes me think that sometimes, paying in cash is a better choice.

Paying in cash though can only be the better choice for some once all debts and loans have been paid off or at least managed properly. It can help avoid additional interest charges as well as improve credit scores. For those who want to improve their credit scores and manage their credit card finances, debt consolidation is an option. Instead of worrying about multiple deadlines or which to prioritize, consolidating everything into one account is definitely an advantage. It can liberate you from your credit card debt in a shorter period of time, assuming of course that you use your cards wisely moving forward.

Saturday Date

The weather was so nice today. Can you imagine that it was in the 70s? A week ago we were in the low 20's but today the weather was amazing! We can even go out wearing short sleeves!

We didn't waste the nice weather so we went out for a date! Hubby and I went to eat out at the new restaurant called Black Jack's Grill. It was nice being out just the two of us. Andrea was with Nana and Papa while hubby and I were out.

After we ate out, we went to stores to do some shopping. Sometimes, it feels great to be with each other doing things without having to worry of our daughter. We are lucky that Nana and Papa are always there to keep Andrea whenever we feel like having a date for just the two of us.

Wedding Photography

A friend of mine attended a very successful wedding which her daughter was one of the flower girls. Her little girl walked down the aisle on her own, without a hitch! She was so happy that she didn't realize the continuous flash of photographers around her. Right after her little girl sat down, that's when she noticed a lot of people holding DSLRs. Now she's saving for one too. She's sure there will be more milestones that her daughter will accomplish so she thinks buying a camera is a good investment.

When she read about cameras in the internet, she got interested in monetizing her future camera. She was browsing the Roman Grinev Photography site and was inspired at the pictures. They had really good reviews and won a number of awards which makes them one of the top in Maryland Wedding Photography. It's amazing how their pictures capture the emotion in an instant. These Maryland Wedding Photographers really know their business.

Now that this site has inspired her, she wants to learn the intricacies of photography. Who knows, with that much inspiration, she might be able to take pictures of her little one in other weddings they will attend in like a Maryland Wedding Photographer.

I love shoulder rides!

Update: Aztec was adopted on February 2nd!

Foster parents are heroes.

Not only do they help us save those with fragile holds on life, but they also help socialize the animals in their care, showing them the human capacity for nurturing care.

Aztec's foster mom helped instill in him a sense that the world is a kind place where he is free to chase toys and look into your eyes when you snuggle him.

Aztec is a singularly attractive kitten, a medium-hair tabby with striking dark brown (almost charcoal) coloring.  He is neutered and about 7 months of age.

At the time of rescue he was a newborn on the streets, his momma nowhere in sight.

Aztec fancies curling his paws over your shoulder while cuddling.

My eyes are windows to my soul.

Update: Buck was adopted on February 2nd!

Today is a triumph for Buck, who is still a puppy at about 11 months of age.  He is finally all clear of a simple skin fungus we had been treating on him for months and he is ready for adoption into a loving, forever home.

What a handsome, noble young boy!  His magnetic eyes are hypnotic and we love his fawn & white coloring and floppy left ear.  He is neutered and most likely a Siberian Husky and Shepherd mix.

Buck has had some crate-training and housetraining, but your patience and good guidance may be needed.  In addition, we recommend basic dog obedience training to help him channel his athleticism and energy into proper behaviors.

He needed us due to his previous owner's financial hardship.

From Rags to Riches.

Update: Breeze was adopted on February 4th!

Every day we wonder how some people can be so cruel to innocent life.  This little treasure was abandoned by a dumpster behind a veterinary clinic in the middle of a cold winter night, stuffed inside a small crate along with 5 kittens and 2 adult cats.

We rescued all 6 animals and, fortunately, all survived that miserable ordeal.  The cats are still receiving care in preparation for adoption and Breeze, a pretty Chihuahua mix, is now spayed and debuting for adoption today.

Breeze is an exceptionally sweet youngster, humble and warm.  She is just a year of age, great with other animals, and blooming beautifully (hence the flower-like frilly scarf).

We seek a caring home for her where she will never again have to face ultimate rejection and disposal, instead being cherished as a princess for the rest of her life.

Thanks to you, I have a bright future.

Update: Don Juan was adopted on January 31st!

Like so many puppies, Don Juan had an owner who was unwilling and/or unable to provide emergency medical care for him when he became critically ill.

Suffering from the parvo virus, death was certain if he did not receive intensive care.  So we rescued him and rushed him to a veterinary hospital for extensive treatment.  Fortunately, he triumphantly made a full recovery!

Don Juan is a tiny, sweet Chihuahua puppy with an affectionate nature.  He delights in gentle belly rubs.

Don Juan is neutered, about 4 months of age, and debuting for adoption today.

We are deeply grateful to all of you who donate to Nevada SPCA.  Your contributions empower us to save innocent lives, like Don Juan, who are in desperate need throughout the community.

Can you make time for me?

Update: Little Peanut was adopted on January 29th!

We cannot overemphasize enough how wonderful this baby girl is and how much love she has to share with a new, committed owner.

Little Peanut is a petite, tri-color Beagle with mesmerizing eyes, spayed, about 8 months of age, debuting for adoption today.

Besides enjoying other dogs, she is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained.

Little Peanut needed us because her previous owner did not feel he had enough time for her.

We recommend basic dog training to help her continue to channel her energy into good behavior.

Perhaps I am a diva in the making.

Update: Emme was adopted on January 29th!

Emme is simply irresistible!

She is a baby girl, cuter than a Teddy Bear, debuting for adoption today.

But she is as strong-willed as she is adorable, so an experienced home is required for her adoption.  Her foster mom has been working with her on food aggression and being temperamental, and this progress will need to continue in her new, adult-only home.

Emme is a Yorkshire Terrier mix, spayed, about 4 months of age, and good with some dogs (except around food and treats when extra caution is in order).  She will need your patience and good guidance to complete housetraining.

Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection.

Emme needed us when her previous owner abandoned her.

We would love to bounce right into your life.

Ace & Queen
We honor the strong bonds of soul-mates by having them be adopted together, even though this usually results in them being more difficult to adopt.  But for many homeless animals, their soul-mate has been their rock through often difficult times, and the emotional consequences of breaking them up are too devastating.

Ace & Queen would love to be treated and adored like royalty in a caring new home.  They are Miniature Pinschers, spayed/neutered, approximately 5 years of age.

Both have a cute prance and spring in their step, along with being compatible with friendly cats and dogs and children.  At the time of rescue they were banished to living outdoors only, which is unacceptable, so your patience and guidance may be needed to help with completing housetraining.

Ace & Queen are both on a special diet (fish-based food) for allergies, and Queen has a chronic dry eye needing daily drops.

These regal little dogs have been with us for several months now anxiously awaiting someone special to adopt them.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique, and our volunteers who took them to their portrait session, for this amazing portrait to help them find a forever home.

How do I find a forever home?

Update: Sugar was adopted on January 29th!

Quiet-natured little Sugar debuts for adoption today.  She is a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, spayed girl, about 5 years of age.

She is good with dogs and reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with cats and older children.

Please plan on regular professional grooming care for Sugar to keep her looking and feeling great.

Sugar needed us because a member of her previous family was allergic to her.

This sweet girl may do best in a calm home environment.

Please help me reach my full loving potential.

Update: Midnight was adopted on February 3rd!

Midnight (the name she arrived with) is an exceptionally gentle youngster who desperately needs to build self-esteem.

We are not sure whether she has been the victim of screaming or physical abuse, or if she was improperly socialized when a puppy, but she hunkers down in new situations and with new people.

But with those she trusts, Midnight shares her heart and affection.

She is a lovely Labrador Retriever mix, spayed, just past one year of age.  She debuts for adoption today.

Midnight is compatible with other dogs and reportedly fine with older, mature kids.  She may need your patience and guidance to complete housetraining, as she reportedly has accidents when especially anxious.

She needed us when her previous owner moved into an apartment without her.

Once in a loving home, we know she will bloom beautifully.  We look forward to seeing her in the months to come holding her chin high with pride.

Please let me live indoors as a cherished member of the family.

Update: Crosby was adopted on January 28th!

Crosby is full of life, eager to explore and play and be with you as much as possible.

He is a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer, neutered boy, about 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today.

Crosby is athletic and will do best with an active lifestyle.  He reportedly enjoys chasing after tennis balls and going for walks.

German Shorthaired Pointer knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption.

Crosby needed us because he had been handed off, at least twice, from owner to owner.  He was very underweight at the time of rescue, living solely in a crate or the backyard, which must have been agonizing for this social boy.

Student Loans

I love being a mom though at first I was afraid that being one would actually limit my network of friends to “just” moms. I was amazed that there are actually different groups of moms and that I get to interact with all of them from a Mommy standpoint. There are the stay-at-home moms and work-at-home moms. There are moms who still work in offices and moms who do online jobs at the comfort of their own home. There are moms who prefer to be homemakers and moms who pursue their careers.

One thing new that I’ve learned though is that a lot of moms still hope to finish their college degree. Student loans are not at all familiar to me. I was surprised to learn that there are different types of private student loans. Having an option on which to apply for is important because being a mom while studying makes some things, like having a job, difficult. Knowing how to pay it and when or how long you need to pay it becomes critical especially when balancing your studies with caring for a child.

Through our discussion of loans, I also learned a variety of tools to save for college. Preparing beforehand is important so that you will not feel pressured by your obligations. Earning a degree for me is important no matter what your age is because it is something you can fall back on when your little ones are not so little anymore.

Gas Logs

It was three weeks ago when our family went for a vacation. We stayed in a rustic cabin with a fireplace. It was awesome! Our three-nights stay in the cabin gave us a wonderful experience. We were able to experience a family bonding in front of the fire. My daughter was so in loved with the fireplace that we thought about buying one. We are in the market for affordable Gas Logs. But before we invest some money on Gas Logs we decided to educate ourselves about them. I know that there are many things to learn about gas logs. I found a great deal of information by reading Gas Log FAQs which I found at Hansen Wholesale. I learn a lot about gas logs' safety. This topic is really important to me.

Anyhow, now that I have enough knowledge about fireplace gas logs, I have decided to buy R. H. Peterson Real Fyre Gas Logs as this product meet my standards. Peterson gas logs provides instant and efficient heat and best of all I can safely turn off the fire when it is already bedtime. These features provides additional safety for me and the whole family. If you are looking for Vented or Ventless Gas Logs, check out Hansen Wholesale. They offer guaranteed lowest price on all gas logs by RH Peterson. Even better, they offer Free Shipping and No Sales Tax. The free shipping offer is limited to complete gas log sets under 36" in the continental USA. With this kind of deal, I am sure you will be enticed to shop for gas logs at Hansen Wholesale.

Nostalgia #37 - High School Reunion

First and foremost, I WAS NOT THERE!

We had an Alumni Homecoming last January 17, 2011. I wish I was there.

These are my former classmates. We were batch 1994-1995. If I remember correctly, we were more than 40 but only 8 of them were able to attend the reunion. I can't believe it was over 15 years ago that we were together enjoying high school life. "Nakakamiss at nakakatuwang alalahanin ang mga bagay at ang mga nakaraan!"

This picture brings back a lot of high school memories. The fun, the friendship, the dreams, the simple life....

Photobucket

I believe in the essential goodness of people.

Update: Harli was adopted on January 29th!

Harli has the bright eyes of a puppy.

But this wise girl is well past 13 years of age.

Harli aches for attention and adoration, and she may cry if you dare to ignore her.

She is a lovely Siberian Husky, spayed, debuting for adoption today.  She is reportedly housetrained and crate-trained and compatible with cats and dogs (especially small ones) and kind children.

Harli needed rescue when her previous owner became homeless.

We cannot emphasize enough the untold emotional rewards that come with adopting seniors.  Please give this jolly girl serious consideration.

I am confused why people get angry with me.

Update: Mauricio was adopted on January 31st!

A sensitive youngster who yearns for kindness and understanding, Mauricio's fear of new people is heartbreaking.

We strongly suspect his previous owner screamed and raged at him, melodramatically cursing instead of giving a puppy the patience and good guidance needed in a gentle manner.

Mauricio still believes in people though, and he is eager to share his heart with someone with a tender touch.

He is a Miniature Poodle with stunning good looks, neutered, about 2 years of age.  We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space to keep him.

Mauricio enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.

I love to show off how good I look and feel.

Update: Amos was adopted on January 29th!

We get a kick out of watching Amos, a former show dog, jump up on stools and small platforms or tables to be admired and fawned over.

And he does have magnificent good looks and posture.  Amos is a Labrador Retriever, about 8 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption.

He is very friendly and cheery, always looking for fun.  He is reportedly crate-trained, but we are unclear whether he is housetrained or just used to dog kennels.

Amos needed us when his previous owner went into hospice.  At the time of rescue Amos had an enormous, cantaloupe-sized tumor on his front leg.  But the friends of his previous owner raised money to donate to Nevada SPCA to cover the cost of the surgery to remove the tumor in full, which was achieved, and Amos has healed very well.

Please come meet this sweet boy.  The show ring is behind him, but he can still be a champion in your loving home.

Motorcycle Safety

During spring and summer time, riding a motorcycle is the best. The feeling of being carefree while the air gushes through your entire body is of no equal. I love motorcycle rides. Enjoying your ride doesn't mean you have to forget about safety. For a safe motorcycle ride, riders need to wear Motorcycle Helmets.

In some States (like Alabama) there is a law that requires all motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets. On the other hand, there are states that doesn't require wearing of helmets and there are states that requires only some riders especially those below 18 years old. Motorcycle helmet use can save lives and reduce serious injury. Why take a chance when there is a safe way?

So before you think about riding your motorcycle and cruise on the road, you need to shop for a reliable and safe motorcycle helmets. One of the most popular helmets among riders is the HJC Helmets. HJC helmet is known for its superior quality and affordability. This kind of helmet is sure to provide safety to any motorcycle rider.

I dream of living life on a bed of roses.

Update: Whiskers was adopted on February 1st!

Trying to survive on the streets is hard enough for cats, and often fatal (due to vehicles, disease, coyotes, and so many other dangers), but imagine being declawed on all four feet, completely defenseless, unable to even run up a tree for basic safety.

But somehow little Whiskers eked out a survival outdoors long enough to be rescued.

Whiskers is surprisingly gentle and demure considering what she had to endure.  She seeks out quiet places and responds best to soft-spoken people.

She is a lovely tabby with white feline, spayed, about 5 years of age, and available for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

Please adopt Whiskers and keep her strictly indoors.  As mentioned, she is fully declawed, so even a single trip outdoors could end her life.

These splendid portraits of Whiskers are courtesy of Pet'ographique to help her find a forever home.

Please make sure I am never lonely again.

Leigha delights in taking catnaps stretched out on a window seat where she can soak up the sun's rays from the comfort and safety of being indoors.

She is a sweet feline with mousy good-looks and captivating green eyes, a medium-hair with some calico patterning, spayed, about 3 years of age.

Leigha is wary of new people, but warm-hearted with those she trusts, and she loves other friendly cats.

She was rescued after being abandoned in a hotel suite.

Please ask for Leigha by name in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms.

Very special thanks to Pet'ographique for showcasing Leigha so beautifully in a portrait to help her find a forever home.

Will love come around again for a 13 year old sweetheart like me?

Update: Leona was adopted on February 4th!

A rustic girl with soulful, heart-breaking eyes, Leona's gentle spirit pleads for another chance for love.

Imagine being homeless in your twilight years.  But she trusts us to find her someone special to cherish her and let her live in dignity during her final months or years on Earth.

Leona is in surprisingly good shape for a 13 year old.  She walks very well on a leash and her teeth are healthy.  She is reportedly a Labrador Retriever and Border Collie mix.  She is spayed.

We rescued her from another shelter where she did not qualify for adoption (due to age).

Our playful antics should be on YouTube!

Wednesday & Pugsley
Update: Wednesday and Pugsley were adopted on January 27th!

Wednesday and her brother Pugsley are wonderfully comical babies who promise a lifetime of unconditional love and entertainment.

They are Chi-Weenies (Chihuahua & Dachshund mixes), spayed/neutered, approximately 3 months of age, debuting for adoption today.

These angels needed us due to their previous owner's inability to care for them.

Wednesday and Pugsley can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting the duo for lifetime companionship.

Please be certain to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

Who can I give my heart to?

Update: Jeremiah was adopted on January 26th!

Jeremiah is a humble, super sweet, shy baby boy debuting for adoption today.

He is a Teacup Chihuahua, neutered, about 8 months of age, with a cute widow's peak and extra large ears and sad eyes.

Jeremiah yearns for a loving home, preferably with another dog (or dogs) he can bond with.

Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and protection.

His previous owner surrendered him to us without explanation.

Match Games

Every now and then I entertained myself with different games online. I actually think that I am good at playing Match 3 Games. Just yesterday, I got hooked at playing Fishdom. This game allows you to decorate your own aquarium and you can buy all the items you need at the shop. You will need money to spend and you can earn money every level. This is a really fun game especially if you like having your own aquarium virtually. Fishdom game can be found at Online Match 3 Games.

There are plenty of games that you can play and choose from at Match 3 Games. If you don't have unlimited internet use, you can Download Match 3 Games so that you can play them offline. The games that I have tried which for me are all very exciting are: Jewel Search, Bloxxy, and Pirates Treasure. When I have extra time, I will check more games.

A guardian angel must have saved me.

Update: Lucy was adopted on January 31st!

Lucy is a dainty kitten with a tender, gentle spirit and affectionate nature.

She is a shorthair feline, brown tabby & white, with striking facial features, spayed girl, about 6-7 months of age.

This sweetheart was reportedly among a large litter of kittens ravaged by a loose dog, all of who were killed during the attack except for Lucy (and she had severe injuries).

The neighbor who witnessed the attack was devastated and rushed Lucy to an emergency veterinary clinic to try to save her life (since the kittens' owners were unwilling or unable to do this).  The clinic reconstructed Lucy's jaw and the neighbor brought her to us for adoption so she can live a proper, safe life, indoors, where she will be protected in a loving home.

We cannot emphasize enough how strongly we feel about cats living strictly indoors.  Tragedies, like the one that took the lives of all of Lucy's sisters and brothers, are commonplace for cats outdoors.  Besides dogs, they have to contend with disease, coyotes, birds of prey, vehicles, pranksters, other cats, scorpions, and so much more.

Please visit Nevada SPCA's Cat Condos and ask for Lucy by name.  We hope you cherish her every single day and that she leads a long life, full of joy and peace-of-mind.
