Tornado in Alabama
Right now, we still don't have electricity. The power might be back next week. There are terrible damages around us but thanks God we are spared. The storm is said to be the most costly tornado in the state of Alabama.
The pictures of the damages is really sad. People lost their homes, cars and things. Hundreds of people lost their lives too. We are lucky that we only lost power and nothing else.
Let's all pray for those who needs it the most.

We placed her in a foster home and she shortly thereafter gave birth to 7 babies. Samantha is a devoted mom and she successfully raised all 7 of her puppies in a loving environment.
Samantha and four of her babies are now spayed/neutered and ready for adoption. (The other three need more care and will be ready for adoption in the weeks to come.)
Samantha is a beautiful Bully mix, 4 years of age. Her babies are about 3 months of age. Bonzai is a boy and Athens, Egypt, and Sunflower are girls.
Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong love and companionship.
Samantha craves affection and gives kisses. Her favorite toy is playing with large, empty water bottles (without lids).

A real estate agent found this petite, sweet girl in a foreclosed home. She was starving and emaciated, as no water or food was in sight.
We named her Sky and nursed her back to good health. She is now ready for share her devotion with someone worthy of her innocence and love.
Sky is a lovely dilute calico, now spayed, 3 years of age. Please ask for her by name in the Cat Condos.

Guess Shirts
Last week, my entry was the guess wallet. This week, I am still into "guess" mode, thus I am showing you some of the guess shirts that I bought together with the wallet.I really love these shirts, too bad it shows so much of my "fats" that I can't wear it to my satisfaction. I don't want to return them to the store as I got a great deal (price-wise) of these shirts.
Well, on the plus side, these will be a great "pasalubong" when I go home so I will just save them!

But trusting people does not come easy for these puppies. They made progress in a loving foster home, and this progress needs to continue in loving, forever homes with experienced owners. Kenny, in particular, can get nippy with anxious or fearful, so he requires an adult-only home where this behavior can be curbed immediately.
Kenny and Toby were born to Harmony, a pretty and sweet Jack Russell Terrier mix who was homeless. We have since spayed and adopted Harmony. (Her portrait is below.) Kenny and Toby are now neutered, 4 months of age, and we expect them to remain small in size like their mom.

Our Small Business Then
A few years ago, before I migrated here to the United States, my family and I had a small business, an internet café, that is. I used to manage it and fortunately, our business clicked and we had many customers. Aside from the internet, we also accepted simple printing services. If a customer wanted to print something from a website, he could just inform me or the in-charge that he is going to print. Sometimes, students who have projects or research would come to the café and have their resources printed. So every day, I would check if our printer cartridges are still full. Since I wanted to save from buying brand new ink, I would always go to the city to look for cheap ink. I was just lucky then because there were inkjet cartridges available in the malls that are cheaper. It was my responsibility to look for printer ink since I knew most what was needed for the internet café. I also had to hire someone, a computer technician to do the major computer repairs, other than that I was also the one who maintained the PCs. It was not easy but I really enjoyed managing the business. I liked the thought that I get to be the boss and yet I am able to serve my neighbors and our community.

I am blessed to have found friends where I am right now. Having Filipina friends to spend some time, enjoy food, laugh a lot, and do things together is always fun. I am glad I have friends that doesn't stab my back.
We may have our own differences but when we are all together, we always make sure that we have a lot of fun.

The gentle touch of a foster mom proved to me that humans can be kind.
Ivy's tipped right ear is the result of a local trap & release program for feral cats. (Ears are tipped to indicate which of the feral cats have been spayed/neutered.)
But this little beauty was still a kitten and so we agreed to take her and place her in a loving foster home to be socialized so that she could one day be adopted into a caring, forever home.
Ivy's foster mom worked with her diligently for many months and succeeded in domesticating her.
Ivy is a Tortoiseshell, now about 2 years of age and very sweet with soft-spoken people. She enjoys perching as high as she can on tall cat tree furniture, independently away from the other cats.

He is a small Terrier mix, neutered boy, 3 months of age, now ready for adoption into a forever home.
Theodore and his mom (Golden Girl, pictured below) were rescued from the mean streets when he was just a newborn. He was raised with her in our office, since all kennels were full, until it was time to wean him and place him in a foster home until he was old enough to be neutered.
His foster mom is impressed with his playful nature and very loving nature. He adores his toys and he did fine in an X-pen when she was not home.
After Theodore's neuter and recovery, we reunited him with his mom in the office, and they have been frolicking and bonding and reacquainting.
Both are ready for adoption and they can be adopted separately. Since they are not in the kennels, but in an office instead, it is important you ask for one or both by name when you visit.

Do you promise to shower me with tons of love and attention?
A fastidious girl, Jasmine pulls her bites of food out of her bowl, kibble by kibble, eating them straight from her paw.
She is a Bengal with astonishing good looks, spayed, about 5 years of age, with bright, inquisitive eyes.
Jasmine is very chatty and needy, and she is a counter-dweller so she can engage you closely.
She needed us when her previous owner welcomed an extended family member into the home who is allergic to cats.
Jasmine may be best as the only cat, but she likes dogs who give her space and respect. Bengal knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption. And, like all cats, she needs an indoor-only home for her safety and protection.
Please be sure to ask for Jasmine by name when you visit.

A Tub for my Friend
A friend of mine whose mom has been wheelchair bound for almost 30 years now has been in constant lookout for furnishings or equipment that will make her mom’s life easier. She is always looking for ways to make her daily activities like taking a bath, going to the toilet and others not burdensome and comfortable. One of the hardest activities for her is to take a bath. It would take about 10 minutes before she can be inside the bathroom which is really difficult for her since she is paralyzed. My friend saw these walk in tubs online and she was just as relieved because for a long time, she has been looking for one for her mother. She finds these tubs to be very convenient and innovative because she knows it will enable her mother to bathe without difficulty, comfortably and safely. With the features of a walk in tub, her mother will have the feel of independence without the aid of my friend while bathing. Her mother can just go directly into the tub’s special seat, fill the tub with water or can use the overhead shower; and my friend can do other stuff while her mother takes a bath, thus saving them precious time. I just hope that she will be able to buy that tub soon.

It's Earth week and we all should make our share of doing something green to help mother earth. ISC International, a company who offer color fax, was serious about their pledge to help mother earth and do something good for the environment. They just re-did their office and it looks awesome. Their office is now eco-friendly. Their new workplace is not just beautiful but it is also environmentally sensitive.
ISC International used installed porcelain tile and natural fiber, wool-based carpet in their office. These products are known to emit low to no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs can cause headaches, nausea and respiratory irritation. They also used low- or no-VOC paint in painting their walls.
Having an eco-friendly office promotes healthy working environment. Workers will not felt the usual undesirable smell and the newness of the place. If only more businesses will advocate on eco-friendly office, it will really be good for the environment. Another way to do something good for the environment is to use fax broadcast service because by doing so, it eliminates the need to print, store and dispose of paper messaging records. We Love Fishing
Fishing is one of our favorite bonding activity. For the first time during our vacation last week, we brought Andrea fishing. She was ecstatic seeing the water and she loved the boats that were lining up in the edge of the lake.
Although she didn't really enjoyed the real fishing, she had so much fun throwing rocks and playing inside the boat.

Planning of Taking Up A New Course
My little girl will be going to school in a year or two from now so that means I will be left alone here in the house. That’s why as early as now, I’m planning of taking up an Online College degree. I have been searching online for some time now on different online programs. So far, I have seen a lot but I’m torn between taking up online degree programs in nursing and a computer course to further enhance my computer degree that I took back home. But I know too that taking up college here is really quite expensive and since my little girl is already going to school, I couldn’t afford anymore if we both will be in school.
Good thing I’ve checked on Free Application For Federal Student Aid - http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and I’m glad that I did because I think they can really help me pay for my college should I pursue it. But I know too that if I ever do finish another degree here, our future will somehow be brighter and I would probably land a nice high paying job. Should I go with my plan, it will not be easy and that would entail sacrifices here and there, but when all is through, it will all be worth it.

I have always thought that flamingos are really charming. In fact, when we went to the zoo, I took a lot of time observing them and enjoyed every moment of it. I love its bright color and they are just so beautiful.

At the time of rescue Doogie was a matted mess of skin and bones. When we shaved away the filthy knots, we discovered large, painful bed sores on both of his hips. He was so weak he could barely stand up or lift his head.
Fast-forward three months, and thanks to tender loving care, Doogie is now a robust, playful, affectionate little guy ready for adoption into a loving home.
He is a Poodle mix, neutered, 5-6 years of age, compatible with other dogs, and he adores people.
His soulful eyes speak volumes. Please help us ensure he never sees the reckless, cruel side of human nature again.
